Wednesday 22nd June 2016 - Workshop (10am - 4pm)
‘Light and Form, a Day in the Garden’
A Drawing & Watercolour Sketching Workshop
Melanie is a professional landscape and equestrian artist and art tutor, based in The Cotswolds. She exhibits throughout the UK and tutors on a one to one and
group workshop basis at her studio in Chipping Norton. She uses a variety of drawn and painted media and her landscape painting is predominantly done 'en plein air'. Melanie likes to work spontaneously, when the light inspires, while travelling or walking. Examples of her paintings and writings (Blogs) can be
viewed on her website, as can her complete schedule of workshops for Summer 2016.
Following the huge enjoyment of this workshop that Melanie taught
last summer, we are holding it again and hope the weather is as
wonderful as it was last year!. Suitable for both beginners and the
more experienced artist alike, this is a magical day of creating a
unique visual response, playing with the colours, shapes, textures
and forms that the inspirational variety of plantings in the gardens
at Armscote Manor provide. The aim is to create, in a relaxed and
informal atmosphere, multiple studies and painted notes within a
sketchbook. To engage with and capture the sights of the day.
Melanie will be on hand to demonstrate, inspire and provide creative
feedback, both individually and to the group as a whole.
Art Materials: Participants are asked to bring watercolour sketch pads, watercolour paints and brushes, kitchen roll, a water container, a folding stool and a hat if a hot day.
Price: £75 for the day, £45 for a half day. (Please bring a packed lunch) coffee and tea will be provided. There is a large barn for indoors work, storage and an introductory talk.
